3 policemen, 4 civil defence operatives accused of stealing N40m in Bayelsa Govt House


Three policemen and four operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have been arrested for allegedly stealing N40 million in a safe in Bayelsa Government House.

The suspects were in police custody alongside a Government House staff attached to the Maintenance Unit, who had do some routine maintenance work in the office on the fateful day.

All the suspects were attached to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Bayelsa State Government House, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown.

Report said workers in the office on Thursday morning arrived to meet the safe where the money was kept vandalised.

Consequently, accusing fingers were pointed at eight suspects culminating in their arrest and detention at the State Police Command where they are being grilled.
