276 councillors of the 349 representing 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas in Ogun State have thrown their weights behind Dapo Abiodun, who was declared governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The incumbent, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, has strongly opposed the declaration insisting his candidate, Hon. Akinlade Adekunle, is the party’s candidate.
At Abiodun’s campaign office in Iperu Remo, 276 councillors gathered on Thursday to declare their supports for him, saying they agreed with the decision of the National Working Committee on his candidacy and begged Gov. Amosun to concede defeat.
“We are here to declare support for the NWC on the governorship candidacy of Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State.
“We are appealing to the governor to embrace and support Dapo Abiodun as the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State. Governor Amosun is our leader in the party; he should continue his support to the party for its success at the polls in 2019,” Solarin Taofik, who spoke on the behalf of his colleagues alongside Somefun Olajuwon and Dapo Taiwo told newsmen.
