Man accused of killing  8-month pregnant wife for not washing his clothes

One Mathew Ankiyo has reportedly sent his wife, Mrs. Hannah Ankiyo, to an early grave for failing to do his laundry.

The deceased, who was 30-year-old and hailed from Benue State like her husband, bore him three girls. Late Hannah was pregnant with her fourth child, a boy, when she was allegedly killed by Mathew in their abode in Lugbe, an Abuja suburb over house chores.

The incident happened on June 6, 2017.

And on the fateful day, it was said that late Hannah who was eight months pregnant had spent a large part of that day at ante-natal clinic and returned home in the evening tired.

As a result, the mother-of-three postponed all the chores to the following day. However, when Mathew returned from work and saw that his unwashed clothes, he was livid with anger.

Their neighbours said Late Hannah’s plea that she was going to wash it the following day fell on deaf ears, adding that the couple were always quarrelling.

It was further said that the husband descended on Late Hannah and beat her to death.
Mathew is currently in the custody of Criminal Investigation Department at the FCT Police Command.

He has however, denied claims that he killed his wife. He explained that report by neighbours that before Hannah’s demise they were fond of quarrelling was false.

He said, “Our neighbours don’t understand our Tiv language. So they think we were fighting when we were discussing.”
