2023: PDP BoT Chair alleges threat to his life by Atiku’s loyalists

The Board of Trustees chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Walid Jibrin, has raised the alarm alleging some persons are after his life following his declaration that the party presidential candidate for 2023 election is open to all comers.

Jibrin had ruled out PDP from zoning the ticket for its presidential candidate to any part of the country saying even the party flag-bearer in the 2019 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was qualified to run for the slot.

In an interview he granted newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday, the BoT chairman said some suspected loyalists of Atiku are miffed by his statement and are threatening him.

He explained that their grouse with him is his failure to say that the ticket was zoned to the Northeast where the former Vice-President hails.

“I have received anonymous calls from some people threatening my life for not saying that the party’s presidential candidate should come from the North-East geopolitical zone of the country.

“They said I ought to have said that Atiku Abubakar should be the automatic candidate of the party in 2023,” Jibrin narrated.
