The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will, on Wednesday, September 19, elect its flag bearer in next year’s elections.

The choice will be through either direct or indirect primary, party chair Adams Oshiomhole said in an August 17, 2018 letter to the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Also to be elected on September 19 are the party’s candidates for the House of Representatives election, Oshiomhole said in the letter.

The letter shows that the national convention to elect the presidential candidate will be preceded on Saturday, September 8 by nationwide congresses to elect delegates to the convention.

On September 20 party members will elect candidates for the senatorial election to be followed on Monday, September 24 by the nomination of governorship candidates and on Saturday, September 29 by the nomination of candidates for House of Assembly election.

All dates are subject to ratification by the  National Executive Committee of the party.

Oshiomhole said: “This serves as a formal notification pursuant to the provisions of section 85 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended. Kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly”.
