The council made this clarification on Thursday during the visit of Katsina State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria on the issue of forcing the 14-year-old girl into marriage by the Katsina emir.
According to Punch, the council on Thursday declared that the marriage between the child bride and the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Usman, was irreversible.

Habiba who will turn 15 years on Saturday, October 15, 2016, just passed her Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination and was expected to start Senior Secondary School before she was kidnapped by Jamilu Lawal, an aide of emir of Katsina on the order of his principal on August 16, 2016.

She was converted to Islam and held incommunicado.

Speaking on what transpired on the occasion of members of CAN’s visit to the palace over the issue, Kaora Katsina, Alhaji Nuhu Abdulkadir, on behalf of the emirate council, according to the report by Punch, said, Habiba was asked three questions and based on her reply her marriage to the emir has come to stay.

“The three questions are in line with the dictates of the Islamic religion. Since Isa has voluntarily answered the three questions in our presence, there is no going back on her marriage,” the Kaora Katsina said.
