I tried stopping them from attending the beach party -Brother of post graduate student drowned at Elegushi
Gbenga Odusina, brother of late Funmi Odusina, a post graduate student of University of Lagos, who alongside her friend and course mate, Adesola Ogunmefun(both pictured) drowned at Elegushi Beach during the celebration of their friend’s birthday, has said that he tried talking them out of attending the beach party.
Gbenga stated this on his facebook account in a tribute to the deceased where he regretted not trying harder to stop them from attending the event.
“On sunday, I wanted u to follow me to a party with the kids but as I came2see u, I saw u making up for ur own party.in fact,I still wanted us to still attend together briefly but wen shola showed up,I decided to just let u be cuz I know she hasn’t been ard..(maybe i showed AV still made my request).
“Even as u were leaving,u almost forgot ur other fone with me and I called u back to come have it(maybe I shd AV held u back there too). Maybe, just maybe all these may have just saved both of ur lives but I guess we wld never know again..(“Eeyah” or “Na so” as u fondly say),” he wrote.
Gbenga who apparently felt responsible for his sister’s death pleaded to her fiancé to forgive him.
“I hope david forgives me I cld do little or nothing to avert her death(I was the last family member u saw her)..i wld AV loved to AV him as a brother in law as he is really the coolest dude for her but God knows better,” he said.
